Acquainted to the Windows Registry

If you use a computer running MS Windows operating system, even if you are a computer Geek, you might have seen in the Windows registry on behind the scenes, without you being even aware of it, when installing or removing applications or launch viruses or spyware program scan. You also see the error message references in the registry to appear after the incorrect installation or removal of the application or, if the system is infected with computer viruses or other bad.

The registry is a hierarchical database. Basically this database serves as a container for all data critical for the normal functioning of Windows and all programs and services running on it. Data is stored in a tree structure with each node named key. Each key can be made to the south of the key and data are defined and separated in values. Often an application to run only required use of a key while other applications can access the key, and then use the values associated with that key.

But what are the properties of these keys? Well, the key may be associated with any number of values, and these values can appear in several forms. Each key should have a name and consists of at least one to several characters. Any character can be used when naming the registry, and backslash, and cost indicators and data can also use the backslash. In normal operation of the database to the south of the keys must be unique in connection with the key directly above in the hierarchy. The names of the keys can not be in any other language but English while the values can be stored in different languages.

At this stage we can begin to describe the practical guidance necessary to promote the efficiency of the system. There are technical limitations on the type and size of the program or application may be stored in the registry. The rules that the program should save the settings and initialization data in the registry and any other type of data in another place. In simple terms, the measurement data for two kilobytes should be stored in a plain file and refer to the registry instead of directly stored in the registry as a value. Registry, in this case acts as a map, pointing to the requesting applications to the warehouse, where data is stored, rather than storing the data.
